SliTaz 4.0 Lightweight Linux Free!

SliTaz 4.0 Lightweight Linux

SliTaz is a very lightweight Linux that runs in only 192 MB of RAM and use only less than 500 MB disk space (after installed). SliTaz is very suitable for waking up your old PCs, or to revive laggy PCs to rescue the data before it collapse :D For me, SliTaz helped me rescue my hackintosh-failed laptop and successfully rescue the data out of it. SliTaz has include many usefull softwares such as GParted etc to help you maintain your laptop.

SliTaz, in other hand, has different kind of package manager. It uses Taz Package (TazPkg, tazpkg) to install softwares. It can't install from deb files even you have installed gdebi on it. But, thanks god, TazPKG has various of apps that could be useful for dialy usage, even not as complete as his friends from other distro.

SliTaz offer itself as a LiveCD, which could be burned into a CD and boot it as a Live Operating System. In this case, SliTaz could be used as a survivor or just a replacement for your old PCs that using Intel 486 kind of processor, 192 MB RAM (using full desktop experience) or only in 16 MB (core). It is fully functional even on LiveCD! And for me, those specs are equivalent with Windows 2000 and NT specs, and the lowest is equivalent with Windows 95-98.
